What is EXIF data?
It is the metadata your camera writes inside every file: model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, capture date — and in the "MakerNotes" also proprietary data such as the shutter count, serial number, internal temperatures and battery state. It is the photo’s technical ID card.
What happens to the photo I upload?
It is analysed on the fly and deleted from the server immediately: we do not store it and we do not look at it. Embedded binary data (previews, profiles) is never extracted.
Why are some fields missing from my photo?
Every software pass can strip something: phone apps, social networks and editors often remove or rewrite metadata (especially the MakerNotes). To see everything, use a file straight off the memory card.
What is it useful for in practice?
Verifying a used camera before buying it (shutter count, serial number, real capture dates), understanding the settings behind a photo, or checking what you are about to share — for example whether a file contains GPS location.
